Prof. Dr. Nadeem Irfan Bukhari joined University College of
Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2001. He held teaching
positions with International Medical University (IMU), Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, University College Sedaya International (UCSI), Kuala
Lumpur, School of Pharmacy and the Islamia University of Bahawalpur,
Bahawalpur. Before, he worked as Radio pharmacist & Hospital
Pharmacist at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Cancer Hospital &
Research Centre, Lahore.
At IMU and UCSI he was also involved in the Pharmacy programs of
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and Curtin University of
Technology, Australia. He published more than 88 research papers in
journals of impact factors and authored or coauthored a couple of
professional books. As a member, Panel of Experts, Ministry of
Health, Government of Pakistan, he provided consultation on the
matters related to Pharmaceutical industry. He delivered invited
lectures at international institutions including University College
London, London, UK. He has been visiting professor at DeMont Fort
University, Leicester, UK. His students have accomplished PhD
degrees from DeMont Fort University, University of Otago, New
Zealand and University of the Punjab, Lahore. Areas of his research
are: Pharmaceutical Technology, Nanotechnology, Liquid/Semisolid
Matrix Technology, Artificial Intelligence in Formulation Design,
Innovative Deliveries, Bioequivalence, Bioavailability,
Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical statistics, PK-PD modeling, and
Pharmacogenomics.
Dr. Nadeem is recipient of a research fellowship from University
College London, London UK. He obtained several international
research grants and sponsorships from IMU and World Health
Organization-Health Action International. He obtained B. Pharm and
M.Phil degrees from Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan and
University of the Punjab, Lahore, respectively and of PhD from
University Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. Based on his performance during

Prof. Dr. Khalid Hussain completed undergraduate and postgraduate
degrees from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, and thereafter he
worked in private sector at different positions. During his job in
private sector, he gained hand-on experience in preparation of
gargles / mouthwashes, tooth pastes, TPN, dialysetes and
catheterization. He got the Commonwealth Scholarship for PhD studies
and joined University Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia to pursue his
PhD. This PhD work produced one patent. He has published more than
85 papers in national and international journals. He has supervised
a number of M. Phil and PhD students. Currently, he is working as
Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy,
University of the Punjab, Lahore. His research areas are Development
of analytical methods, Synthesis, Bioassay-guided isolation,
structure activity relationship and Standardization of alternative
medicines. Dr. Khalid is internationally renowned researcher and his
name has been included in “Top Hundred Scientists of World”. He is

Prof. Dr. Farrakh Zia Khan is serving Punjab University College of
Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore since 1979. He joined
this institution as Lecturer and retired as Professor of
Pharmacognosy in 2008. He continued serving the PUCP since his
retirement and working on contract basis. He is actively
participating in, and supervising research. His areas of research
interest include phytochemical and biological studies of indigenous
medicinal plants. He has published over 40 research papers in

Dr. Syed
Nawazish-i-Husain obtained a B.Pharmacy degree and
then a M. Phil. in Pharmacology from the University
of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He later joined the
Faculty of Pharmacy as a lecturer in Physiology and
Pharmacology. Afterwards, he got a Ph.D. in
Pharmacology from University of Strathclyde,
Glasgow, UK where he worked with Dr. Charles
Kennedy. Thereafter, in the post doctoral positions,
he worked under the mentorship of Prof. Robert L.
Jones and Dr. Charles Kennedy in the area of
cardiovascular research.
Dr. Nawazish is
a member of the British Pharmacological Society and
the Physiological Society of Britain. In addition,
he is registered as a pharmacist with Punjab
Pharmacy Council. He is presently heads Pharmacology
section in the College of Pharmacy. He has also
acted as an external examiner for under- and
post-graduate examinations in Public and Private
Universities of Pakistan.
Dr. Nawazish is
currently serving the University as an Assistant
Professor in Pharmacology. He is also serving the
University as an elected member of the University’s
Senate Committee. Previously, he had served on
various legitimate bodies of the University of the
Punjab, Lahore, such as the Senate, Syndicate in
addition to Board of Faculty and the Board of
Studies of Pharmacy. He is also a member of present
Board of Faculty of Pharmacy. He has convened first
to third convocations of Pharmacy graduates of the
College and now it has become an annual feature of
the College’s activities of each year. It is indeed
a new trend in the history of College. He is member
of different committees of the College which include
admission, doctoral, ethical and purchase.
Previously, he has also been working as a clinical
pharmacist in the Ministry of Health, Kuwait.

Dr. Syed Atif Raza, Assistant Professor and Head of
Pharmaceutics Section is among the senior faculty at
Punjab University College of Pharmay (PUCP). Dr Atif
did his B.Pharmacy in 1992 and M.Phil
(Pharmaceutics) in 1996 with Gold Medal from
University of the Punjab, Lahore. In 2014 he earned
his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University
of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. During his
academic career he got various National fundings,
merit scholarships, distinctions and awards. Dr Atif
has a vast administrative experience at various
levels. He has been involved in GMP, GSP and GLP
implementation practices in Pharmaceutical Industry
as per International requirement in close with DRAP
and WHO. He has more than 18 years experience of
Post-graduate teaching and research, development of
curriculum, establishment of new Departments &
Colleges, internal auditing, Director, External
Linkage and Research, member of various College
committees like time table, procurement, admissions
and etc. He played a pivotal role in bringing
Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association to
sign a MoU with Punjab University College of
Pharmacy. He is involved in a variety of industry
projects and collaborates with academic partners
within Pakistan and internationally, and is member
Board of Studies at various Pharmacy institutes. He
is the reviewer for journals and is external
examiner for Pharmacy Institutions. He has over 25
publications in multi-disciplinary journals with

teaching career as Lecturer at University of the
Punjab, Lahore. She was promoted as Assistant
Professor in 2007. She is keenly interested in
research, University of the Punjab granted her a
scholarship for PhD, which she did from University
Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. A couple of M.Phil and PhD
students are working under her guidelines. Dr.

Dr. Amjad Hussain did his Pharmacy from University
of the Punjab in 2002. He stood on top positions in
all four Professionals and awarded with University
Gold Medal for standing first in B.Pharm Examination
2002. He started his career from industrial pharmacy
and also worked in a renowned retail pharmacy. After
this he worked in Children's Hospital and Institute
of Child Health Lahore where he performed his duties
as Hospital Pharmacist/Purchase Officer and used to
teach in the School of Allied Health Sciences. He
joined health department, Government of the Punjab
in 2004, as regular employee after qualifying
through Punjab Public Services Commission. In this
department he worked as Drugs Inspector and Hospital
Pharmacist. Meanwhile, he did his M.Phil in the
subject of Pharmaceutics from University of the
Punjab and joined University as part time Lecturer
in 2007. He was selected as Lecturer at University
of the Punjab, in 2009 and promoted to Assistant
Professor BPS-19 in 2012. He did his PhD in
Pharmaceutical Technology, from DeMont Fort
University (DMU), Leicester, UK. His research area
is innovative, where he worked in the mechanistic
understanding of solubility and dissolution rate
enhancement of poorly soluble drugs. He used the
latest technologies of Terahertz (THz) and
Dielectric Spectroscopy in his research work and
published many research articles in the renowned
international journals of his field of study. He is

Dr. Fatima Rasool did B. Pharmacy and M. Phil from

Bahawalpur. She worked as Hospital Pharmacist at
Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur from
2004-2006. She taught and conducted research in IUB,
Bahawalpur and Hamdard Institute of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, Islamabad. Later on, she was awarded
Indigenous Ph.D. Fellowship from Higher Education
Commission of Pakistan and completed her PhD. degree

Rahat Shamim did her B. Pharmacy from University of
the Punjab, Lahore. She did her Masters in Business
Administration with specialization of Marketing from
Bahaudin Zakia University, Multan. She completed
M.Phil (Pharmaceutics) with getting two Gold Medals
for securing overall first position in all
disciplines of M.Phil Pharmacy. She started her
teaching career by joining PUCP as Lecture and
thereafter, selected as the Assistant Professor. She
teaches subjects like Pharmaceutics, Microbiology
and Marketing Management to the Pharm.D and M.Phil
students. She enjoys teaching because, according to
her it is an opportunity to share enthusiasm and
passion for her subject area with the students and
she finds it incredibly rewarding to watch students

from Highnoon laboratories, Multan Road, Lahore. She

became permanent faculty member in February, 2009.

Furqan Hashmi Graduated in 2000, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy) from the University College of Pharmacy (formally the Faculty of Pharmacy), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Registered as professional pharmacist with the Punjab Pharmacy Council, Lahore. Started working as a community pharmacist in a private organization and later joined Children’s Hospital, Lahore. Afterward went for master degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2003. He has experience of teaching in different pharmacy institutes and joined University College of Pharmacy in 2007 as a contract faculty member, later was offered a permanent position in the faculty. In 2013, he promoted as assistant professor.
He area of expertise is Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice and to date has authored 46 peer-reviewed publications in Pakistani as well as international journals.
Recently joined University of the Punjab after completion of PhD in the field of Pharmacy Practice from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. His area of work is Pharmacoeconomics, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR), Pharmacy Education and Policy, and mixed methodology design including both qualitative and quantitative research methods in pharmacy practice.
In addition to that he had been associated with the Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) as the General Secretary.
Dr. Hamid Saeed is working as Assistant Professor of
Clinical Pharmacy at University College of Pharmacy,
University of the Punjab, Lahore. He is heading
Section of Pharmacy Practice. He obtained his PhD
from University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark
in 2006. Thereafter, he did two Postdocs from Ottawa
Hospital Research Institute, Ontario, Canada and
Stanford University, School of Medicine in the field
of Endocrine Metabolic Disorders (Diabetes and
Osteoporosis) and the role of Mesenchymal Stem cell
in these disorders. He is the recipient of New
Investigator Award and Allied Health Professional
Award from European Calcified and Tissue Society, UK
in 2010 and 2014, respectively. In ensuing years he
developed research interests in investigating cancer
biomarkers and Clinical & Social Pharmacy themes
dealing with the Pharmacist's role in disease
management and patient education along with public
health issues; disease knowledge, anxiety and
depression among community, mother health and role
of Pharmacists in Community Pharmacy.
He has seven years of research experience in the
field of Medical Endocrinology studying mouse models
of human disease; diabetic, osteoporosis and kidney
disease. Currently, he established his own research
lab at University College of Pharmacy, University of

Dr. Nasir Abbas is graduated in bachelor of Pharmacy
from the University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2002.
He did his Masters in Pharmaceutical Analysis from
University of the Strathclyde, Glagow, UK. He got
distinction in Masters which earned him GSK and
EastChem awards for pursuing PhD at University of
the Edinburgh. During his PhD he has got a chance to

Assistant Professor. He is taking theory and
practical classes of Physical Pharmacy,
Pharmaceutical Preparation, Quality Management and
Pharmaceutical Technology courses at undergraduate
level. His teaching activities also extend to
postgraduate courses (M.Phil & PhD) in
Pharmaceutics. Eight students have completed their
MPhil under his supervision. Currently three PhD and
four MPhil scholars are working under his
supervision. He is coordinating postgraduate program
and In-charge of College Admissions.
His research interests include solid state studies
of Pharmaceutical compounds by various
characterization techniques such as XRD, PXRD, Raman
spectroscopy, THz spectroscopy, DSC and Infrared
spectroscopy. Formulation development is another
area of his interest. His group is working in the
field of crystal engineering, e.g.,
co-crystallization, polymorphism and amorphization
of Pharmaceutical compounds. Solubility enhancement
of poorly soluble drugs by various methods, e.g.,
solid dispersion, milling, polymorph screening and
nano technological approaches are also his areas of
research. He has expertise in crystallography at
powder and single crystal levels. Recently he has
been awarded with a research project funded by
Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in the field
of co-crystallization

Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Danish has completed his PhD
from the top most School of Pharmacy, University of
Nottingham U.K. His work was completed with
International patent based DNA and RNA Gene
technology for Medical and Environmental
Applications. This technology was transferred to
TraceTag international, where he worked as a
technology transfer Associate and trained their
scientists as a Postdoctoral candidate in Wales
(Cardiff) U.K. He is HEC approved PhD supervisor and
also the Author of two patents and more than 25
impact factor peer reviewed publications and more
than 50 abstracts published in national and
international proceedings and conferences. He is
also the distinguished Editor of International
Journal of RNAi and Gene Silencing and Chief Editor
of the Journal of United Medical and Pharmaceutical
Sciences (JUMPS).
He has the honour to be the member of the panel of
expert on biologicals for Drug Regulatory Authority
Pakistan (DRAP). Dr. Zeeshan is serving at Punjab
University College of Pharmacy since 2004 and has
also the International teaching experience at School
of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham U.K for three
years. He is supervising PhD and M.Phil research
students in Germany, France, Malaysia and various
Local Universities. He has also been selected as a
Visiting Research fellow at City of Orlando,
Ventura, Florida, and U.S.A in 2015 to develop a
model of biotechnological product development for
clinical trial settings. His area of research
includes Nanotechnology, Advanced Drug delivery,
Gene Silencing/Gene Expression, Drug Discovery,
Aptamer therapeutics, Antibodies, Cancer
therapeutics, Vaccines, Molecular Biomarkers,
phytochemical analysis, product development and

Dr. Saiqa Ishtiaq has completed her PhD in February,
University of Karachi in 2016. It is a pride and
honour that she is the first lady in Punjab who got
PhD degree in Pharmacognosy. She got her B.Pharmacy
and M.Phil (Pharmacognosy) degrees from University
of the Punjab Lahore. She is teaching Pharm-D
students since 2006 and post graduate students since
2010. She is actively involved in research and has
supervised 15 M.Phil students. Until now, she has

Dr. Muhammad Islam did his graduation and
post-graduation – M.Phil and PhD from University of
the Punjab, Lahore. He started his teaching career
from a reputed private sector Pharmacy institute. He
joined PUCP as Lecturer and now he is working as
Assistant Professor in the subject of Pharmaceutical
Chemistry. Up till now he has 14 years of teaching

Dr. Sairah Hafeez Karman joined Punjab University
College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab,
Lahore as lecturer of Physiology and Pharmacology in
2011. She obtained her M.Phil degree in Pharmacology
from the University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2007 by
achieving 1stposition
in the Pharmacology Section. She has recently
completed her PhD form University of the Punjab,
Lahore. The topic of her PhD research is metabolic
disorders. In the last Pharm.D session the topics
she took up in physiology included cell, circulation
& gastrointestinal physiology. In pharmacology she
taught chemotherapy, gastrointestinal, and
respiratory & anesthetic pharmacology. She developed
a setup of M.Phil Pharmacology laboratory sessions
and has designed all the practical's currently
undergoing in the sessions. Her research interests
include glucose and lipid metabolism disorders and
inflammation mechanics. She has published 9 original

Muhammad Khalil-ur-Rehman joined Punjab University
College of Pharmacy as B. Pharmacy student in 1999.
After graduating from University of the Punjab he
started his professional career as the practicing
Pharmacist and served community and hospital but
inspiration for teaching and research urged him to
join post-graduate degree. After getting the
post-graduation degree in Pharmacognosy from
University of the Punjab, Lahore, he joined the
teaching profession to satisfy his teaching and

Sohail Amjad did his Pharm D and M.Phil Pharmacy

Research Centre (SKCH&RC) and published 4 research

literature writing and SPSS for interpreting
quantitative and qualitative data. Under the
umbrella of National TB Control Program, he also
acted as the Focal Person of Public private mix
model for improved Tuberculosis control by referring
TB presumptive cases to pharmacies and medical
stores in Lahore, Pakistan.
